Running For A Cause- Will you help me?

For those who do not know me I am Patrick Ingram.  On December 1, 2011 my life was changed forever when I was diagnosed with HIV.  The last year has been an extreme struggle both physically, mentally, and emotionally.  Now I am back to my old self again and am ready to give back to a community that has given so much to me.  After thinking long and hard about some projects I can do to help raise awareness and funds for a great organization I made a decision on one.  I am now fundraising with Athletes United for Social Justice on their “Grassroots Project.”

Washington, DC has the highest rates of HIV in the entire nation!  It is estimated that 1 in 20 adults live with HIV/AIDS in DC.  HIV infections also trickle down to areas of Northern Virginia and Southern Maryland.  The Grassroots Project has and with the money raise will train more than 400 NCAA Division I athletes to be HIV/AIDS educators for DC’s young people.  The goal set for me has been $1000.  This is a fairly simple goal to be really honest with you.  If 100 of my fans, followers, supporters, friends, and colleagues give just $10.00 I will reach my goal.  We are better than that though right?  I want to raise more money than that.  HIV/AIDS affects every person.  Almost every person I have met is directly or indirectly affected by HIV.  I for one have a long-term goal of being in an HIV free world.  Through education to reduce stigma and increase knowledge of HIV we can make a difference.  HIV is a horrible virus and I would not wish it on my worst enemy.  For those of you who know me I am very serious and dedicated to things that I find valuable and this is just it.  I am prepared to run the full Marine Corps Marathon to help bring awareness, remembrance to the fallen, hope to those affected, less stigma to our communities, and light to the end of an increasingly brighter tunnel.  Will you be there supporting me and my team?
